08 Mar Migration Program
Australia’s migration program is carefully designed to achieve a range of economic and social needs of the Australian community. As per the Australian Government and Department of Home Affairs, the migration program is set annually, for the year 2020-2021 the total places available capped at a ceiling of 160,000. The program is broken down into:
- Skill stream- 79,600
- Family stream- 77300
- Special Eligibility- 100
- Child places- 3000
The size and composition of the migration program are set through the Australian Governments Budget process along with consultations with state and territory governments, business and community groups. The decision is based on the community and economic views, labour force forecasts, International research, net overseas migration, and economic fiscal modeling.
